We made it… finally 😵💫. Sorry for the delay on this!
We’ve also opted to name it “Synchronised” rather than “Simple” as it better described the functionality. Please let us know what you think!

Just an update - we’re back onto this, building something more specific for per-athlete modifications, rather than just duplicating a program. The work to get this done “right” is significant but I’ll be back with previews and updates along the way.

One of the roadblocks we ran into when working on this initially was the realisation that phase and block planning should also be modifiable per-athlete. There was ambiguity with how a Modified Program should be affected by certain changes made to the Master Program. We had solutions that made sense most of the time, but there were still edge-cases where we could understand a user expecting a different outcome, and being frustrated with the outcome they got instead.
To overcome this, we decided phase and block planning should be embedded in the session planner (see mockup below).
The mockup illustrates a user who has planned 40+ weeks of phases and blocks, and has the session programming filtered to Block 1 of Phase 1. In the top-right corner of the page, the user is searching for an athlete whose name starts with “Sa”, to make modifications to their program specifically.
This opens up a number of possibilities:
Being able to see your entire program on one page
Re-scheduling phases/blocks/sessions for a particular athlete
Drafting changes to block/phase scheduling
Adding breaks between blocks and phases, or scheduling blocks/phases for specific dates
Removing the ambiguity of week numbers “is this week 1 of the block, or week 1 of the program?”
I’m very interested to hear if anyone has any feedback on this direction or suggestions to make the workflow easier for them!

Look great Ryan. Would it be possible to colour code those week numbers red yellow green as needed for a type of intensity heat map? Or even to denote a competition week etc.

Hi all - another update. This has been a massive update to build and we’re getting very close. Here’s some screenshots highlighting:
- Phases/Blocks will still be quick to manage - The UI will be more informative than the old version, highlighting week numbers, dates, weeks with no sessions planned, etc - You will be able to plan your entire program on one screen. This is near impossible with the old version once you get past 30 weeks, due to poor frontend performance. We’ve worked super hard to get this running fast no matter how complex your program is! - Switching between athletes in a program will be quick, and you’ll be able to tell at a glance who has a modified program.
There are a couple small things we still need to build and then we’ll have a few rounds of testing before this goes live!

We’re delaying this one slightly, but will push out some new features to make it slightly easier to achieve the same result:
- Ability to duplicate a program (including all phases, blocks and sessions) - Ability to exclude users from a program. This will allow you to include a group, and then exclude specific athletes from that group to offer a modified program instead.
These new features should be available within the next week.

We’ll be launching what we’ve done so far with the rebrand update on June 30. At the time of launch, it will enable you to create copies of the program for each athlete. The end result is similar to what you can already do by duplicating programs, but will keep it contained in one program, which neatens up reporting by reducing the number of program names you need to scroll through.
What we were aiming to deliver, was the ability to (optionally) make modified programs that sync up with the base program. That way, if you’re building your program week-by-week, you don’t have to repeat that work for every athlete that has a modified program. We’ve named these two types of program modifications “Simple” and “Branched”.
Simple (In progress):
Stay synced up with the base program
Can only modify, delete or add sessions. You won’t be able add or delete weeks, or update any blocks/phases.
When you modify or delete a session in an athlete’s program, that session will stop syncing with the base program - however it can be restored at any time.
Branched (Complete):
Does not sync with the base program
Starts as a copy of the base program
Allows you to make any change you like
Unfortunately, we weren’t able to get the Simple version complete by our June 30 goal.
I just wanted to share a clip of what we have so far to visualise the direction we’re taking. Depending on what you’re working on, it might make sense to wait until this is released. We’re aiming to have it completed mid-late July.
Additionally, if you’re interested in early/test access, feel free to comment here, or contact us via support or e-mail. We’ll get you set up as soon as we’re ready.
